The Visual Journey, Inside and Out- 6 hour class $149 Jill K. Berry
Student Level: All Skill Levels
Workshop Description: I love interesting places, cool book structures, maps and journaling. And, I think something wonderful happens when you really stop to take notice of where you are. Being at an art retreat in Cedarburg is pretty wonderful, and inspires this journal. I call this site-specific work, because it has everything to do with where you are, both mentally and physically. Outside we will roam around a bit gathering the textures and images of our surroundings. Inside we will layer drawing, writing, mapping, pochoir, collage, and text to create a series of colorful pages that contain attention and awareness of the place where we are. Finally we will bind the pages in a structure with a flexible spine that you can continue to add to, with windows, pockets, trades, collage and journaling throughout your time at RAEvN’s Nest. In the end you will have a record of this journey in a journal full of brand new techniques, and a greater appreciation of this place in time. And, you won’t have to leave without actually seeing Cedarburg!
