Workshop Description:

I love interesting places, cool book structures, maps and journaling. And, I think something wonderful happens when you really stop to take notice of where you are. Being at an art retreat in Cedarburg is pretty wonderful, and inspires this journal. I call this site-specific work, because it has everything to do with where you are, both mentally and physically.

We will roam around a bit with flat pages, gathering the textures and images of our surroundings. We will then layer drawing, writing, mapping, pochoir, and collage, to create a series of pages that contain attention and awareness of the place where we are. Finally we will bind the pages in a structure with a flexible spine that you can continue to add to, with windows, pockets, trades, collage and journaling throughout your time at RAEvN’s Nest. In the end you will have an In-Siteful journal full of brand new techniques, and a greater appreciation of this place in time.
