Ancient Amulets - 2.5 hour class
$75
Laurie Mika

Student Level: All skill levels

Workshop Description:

An amulet is traditionally a piece of jewelry usually hung about the neck serving as a magical protection against evil or disease. In this mini workshop, we will create ancient Amulets out of polymer clay that have a medieval look. These amulets will have tiny windows that can contain Milagros, photos, charms or jewelry parts, anything that is significant to the wearer of these special, good fortune jewelry pieces. We will cover a variety of techniques using polymer clay including using rubber stamps, mica powders, embossing powders and embedding all types of materials into the clay. We will also explore ways to create metal-like surfaces with polymer clay.

Kit Fee: $0

Student Supply List:
2 small packages of Premo or Sculpey III polymer clay, both the same color.
Rolling pin or acrylic rod
Small personal doo-dads like charms, Milagros, photos, beads, wings, crowns, or collage elements to place in the tiny window. See pics for ideas.
(optional) A chain and jump ring for your amulet
