House Full of Junque
- 6 hour class
$145
Karyn Gartel

Student Level: All Skill Levels

Workshop Description:
Is your house full of junque (also known as j-u-n-k)? If you are a packrat, you will love this project based assemblage workshop that will show you fun & creative ways of incorporating some of that junque into a fabulous piece of art. In fact, you will look at junque in a whole new way!

To begin, we will start the workshop with some cool acrylic painting techniques for making a colorful background. Don’t be afraid if you have never attempted painting before because my techniques are fool-proof and you will get great results. Even if you do manage to goof-up, I will show you how to fix it!

The other fun part of this workshop is using some of that cool junque you have. You know…the stuff you keep in the kitchen drawer that it “might be useful someday”, or the rusty stuff you pick up in the parking lot. You might even have some of it stashed in your art supplies, or even in the basement. Wherever you keep your junque, pack up a selection of it and bring it along to use. We will also have a “sharing” table for items you want to share with others because heaven knows we usually have more junque than we need!

Kit Fee: $20
payable to the instructor at the BEGINNING of the workshop. Kit includes 5 pre-drilled/cut canvas panels, wire, beads, acrylic paints, assorted assemblage items, and use of instructor tools & stamps.

Student Supply List:
1” paintbrush
water container
heat gun or hair dryer
soft cloth (like an old washcloth)
wire snips
needle-nose pliers
assortment of junque (smaller items work better as the largest surface we are working on is 4 x 6)
gel medium (matte or glossy)
small selection of collage materials.
