Unappointed, unannoited, unelected, but highly respected, they practiced the unspoken doctrine of in-clusivity, rather than exclusivity… I often sat there at the bar or table, like many other fortunate souls, feeling quite comfortable as I listened to the amazing conversations around the room. Seeing the music, hearing the pictures, when those of us so engaged left our solitary pursuits we sought kindred spirits. All these wildly energetic individualists, each pursuing their own dreams, were simultaneously interested in the work of others.”1
